Caregiver of the Month - Congratulations Elizabeth Lopez
Elizabeth is being recognized as Caregiver of the Month for her positive attitude, patience, and willingness to cover shifts. Elizabeth went above and beyond recently in covering a lot of shifts at the Corbetts. Despite the extra hours she remained as sweet and calm as always to all of her clients. Congratulations Elizabeth and thank you for everything!
Elizabeth was nominated by Michelle Hughes. If you would like to nominate someone for Caregiver of the Month please email Shannon at sworkman@seniorhelpers.com. The Caregiver of the Month receives a $50 gift card and recognition in the Newsletter!
Corbett Team Meeting
Thank you Amada, Elvira, Joelene, and Michelle for attending the Corbett team meeting! It was excellent to get together. This team, which also includes Rose and Elizabeth, has been together for over 2 years. They provide amazing, consistent care to Mr. and Mrs. Corbett. It was lovely to have everyone together and fine tune the care plan.

We love doing these team meetings whenever we can. If you feel your team would benefit from a team meeting, please contact our Director of Client Services Liah Ramirez at lramirez@seniorhelpers.com.
September Caregiver Meeting Recap
At our virtual caregiver meeting last month, we discussed the following story. You might recognize it from the famous Bricklayer parable...!
The Three Caregivers
There were three caregivers who all had the same day. They clocked in at 7am, helped their client shower and dress, then prepared and served breakfast and morning meds. After breakfast was cleaned up, they went for a walk together, and when they got back the caregiver did laundry.
The supervisor asked the first caregiver, "What did you do today?" The first caregiver responded tiredly "I cooked, cleaned, walked, and did laundry."
The supervisor asked the second caregiver, "What did you do today?" The second caregiver simply said, "I took care of someone."
The supervisor asked the third caregiver, "What did you do today?" The third caregiver replied enthusiastically, "I helped a senior citizen and their family too!"
The three caregivers all had the same day but they had three different attitudes towards their work. The first caregiver simply saw their work as a job, the second caregiver saw it as a career, and the third caregiver saw it as a calling. The third caregiver felt happier and more fulfilled because they were connected to the big picture of what they were doing.
All of our caregivers work in this field because they have a calling to help others. We took time at our September Meeting to reconnect with what our calling is, and to motivate us to keep being the best caregivers that we can be!
Vaccinations Required for Home Care Aides
In an ongoing effort to ensure safety of persons in care, and to minimize the spread of COVID-19 among vulnerable individuals, a State Public Health Officer Order was issued on September 28, 2021 requiring all Home Care Aides (HCAs) to have the first dose of a one-dose regimen or the second dose of a two-dose regimen by November 30, 2021.
HCAs may be exempt from the vaccination requirements based on religious beliefs or if they are excused from receiving any COVID-19 vaccine due to Qualifying Medical Reasons. HCAs with an exemption must be tested weekly.
Senior Helpers takes the protection of our clients’ and caregivers’ health and safety very seriously and welcomes this new mandate. Vaccination remains the best tool that we have to protect ourselves, our families, and our community from COVID-19.
As a reminder, vaccination is in addition to other key measures such as mask wearing, testing, physical distancing, and hand hygiene.
Elena Met Snoopy
Our Schedule Coordinator Elena Arguello is back from vacation! Elena and her husband visited Knott’s Berry Farm, where Elena was very excited to take a picture with Snoopy. They also spent a week in San Diego where they visited Coronado Island, Balboa Park, and the Midway Museum. Her favorite meal of the trip was the Filet Mignon from Black Angus. After San Diego, Elena had another week off at home to rest. It’s always a good idea to have a vacation after your vacation!
Elena works hard to coordinate all of our clients’ and caregivers’ schedules and we are so glad she took this time for herself. Welcome Back Elena!
